Description

This well-established £8 mill t/o manufacturing business is looking for a Finance Director to join the Management team and support the Managing Director in the continued growth of the business, with a view to eventually taking over the MD role when the incumbent retires. 

We are looking for a Finance Director with ambition.  The business currently has two MDs, and the MD with Finance responsibility (former FD) is looking to scale down their level of day to day involvement but will remain as a non-executive board member for the time being.  The new recruit will support the other Managing Director in the running of the business with a view to eventually taking over the sole MD role when the time is right for the current MD to step down into a non-executive capacity.

This is an exciting career opportunity that offers clear career planning into the Managing Director role. In time you will have full commercial and operational responsibility for the business.  This is a permanent role paying £65,000 - £70,000 dependent on experience plus 25 days holiday.

Responsibilities

Financial and HR oversight of the company including the holding company and associated companies
Direct management of the finance and HR team
Oversight of all IT throughout the company, including the integrated system
Act as Senior Legal Coordinator internally, coordinating the approval of all legal agreements and ensuring all current regulations and laws are adhered to
Member of the Senior Management Team including cover for colleagues where required
Budgeting, forecasting, financing and financial and performance reporting, pricing
Overall responsibility for ensuring appropriate controls are in place across the business
Recommendation of alternative systems where appropriate
Recommendation of alternative pay schemes and structures where appropriate
Deputise for the Managing Director(s) where required
Represent the company on industry forums and membership bodies

Experience Requirements

You must be a qualified accountant with some experience at or close to FD level within a £10m turnover organisation and proven leadership experience in an SME environment (ideally manufacturing).  You will have a demonstrable track record of managing a team, be an financially astute allrounder and hold career ambitions to broaden into a general management role at Board level.  An understanding of relevant employment law would be highly useful and an understanding of manufacturing processes would be ideal, including:-

Understanding of the sales and purchasing process
Understanding of the production process through to installation and after sales
Understanding of all health and safety rules as they apply to our activities

Skills

Excellent communications skills are essential as you will be managing external supplier relationships.
You must be IT literate to include Advanced Excel.
