Group Financial Controller opportunity - This successful construction business is offering excellent career prospects to a Group Financial Controller who will oversee the financial reporting and cost controls of the company, ensuring the efficient performance of Payroll, Accounts Payable and Company statutory reporting. Working from offices near Leicester, you will manage a team of 8.



• Produce monthly and annual accounts for group operating companies
• Ensure Cash Flow, Balance sheet and P&L month end reports are produced on time and to a high degree of accuracy
• Produce weekly short term Cash Flow forecast
• Manage cash flow by understanding transactions and approving supplier and subcontractor payments
• Manage Aged debt and run monthly debt meetings with Quantity Surveyors
• Generate Financial reports required for Board meetings
• Establish processes and controls for major areas of spend in the business including Materials, Labour, Plant and Vehicles
• Ensure strong cost control and adherence of Delegated Financial Authority in the company
• Produce relevant management information for cost management of Plant (c.80 items) and Fleet vehicles (c100 vehicles)
• Supervise and manage financial department staff, including accountants and financial assistants
• Motivate and lead finance team members by clarifying roles and providing helpful feedback
• Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing
• Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported
• Collaborate with auditing teams to ensure proper compliance with all regulations
• Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities
• Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations
• Assist the FD in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.

Experience Requirements

• Experience in Construction Industry (knowledge of CIS, VAT and other tax issues relevant to the Construction Industry)


• High levels of attention to detail
• Previous team management
• IT skills : Excel advanced, exposure to other finance or Construction based systems will be an advantage without being essential
