This well-established manufacturing business is looking for a Senior Production Manager to join the Management team and support the Managing Director in the continued growth of the business.

This is a permanent role paying £65,000 - £75,000 dependent on experience plus 25 days holiday. The core working hours are 7am – 4pm Mon – Fri with some additional hours as and when required by the needs of the business as a member of the Senior Management Team.


Management and coordination, via the organisational structure, all aspects of the manufacturing and purchasing departments, ensuring that all products are available to the correct specification, on time, and in full, to the installation department.
In particular Manage Health and Safety on all premises including risk assessments and booking of occupational health appointments as and when needed Health and Safety induction of all new production and manufacturing staff
Maximise efficiency within the departments, to minimise wastage and overtime working, with the goal of optimising margin generation
Manage all human, material and mechanical resources required to manufacture products
Ensure that all finished goods are inspected and signed off prior to completion and meet agreed standards
Deputise for the Machining/Joinery and Finishing Manager during their absence
Develop employee skills, via coaching, training, appraisals etc, as required by the business
Develop new processes, and procedures within the departments to improve quality, efficiency and material utilisation
Keep up to date with all relevant legislation and develop the business products and services to comply and achieve the correct levels of accreditation
Positive contribution as part of the senior management team and working with other senior managers in the day to day management of the business
Keep abreast of new manufacturing methodology, and processes, introducing changes as and when possible
Manage expenditure within the manufacturing and purchasing departments to maximise efficiency and improve productivity and profitability

Experience Requirements

Applicants should have a demonstrable track record of managing a team in either a production, engineering or manufacturing business.This role would suit a proactive individual who is driven by process improvement and is an instigator of change to maximise productivity and profit.  Excellent communications skills are essential as you will be managing external supplier relationships. 


You must be IT literate to include Advanced Excel and production and planning software.If you are highly analytical, with an exemplary work ethic and enjoy leading and mentoring a team then this could be the role for you.  Managing 4 direct reports this role requires strong leadership qualities and the ability to implement your succession plan as your role takes on future responsibility.
